Dating Online Services proliferate on the internet at an all-time number. It seems like every time I look at the list of online dating websites, a new dating site appears every day. So if you’re going to start dating online, which online dating service do you use?
Today, I’m going to provide a list of the top internet dating sites you’ll find on a Google search, which I’m assuming makes these services the ones most likely you’ll find. I’ll simply go down the list and give a quick synopsis about each of these dating service providers. We’ll start with the granddaddy of them all: e-Harmony.
eHarmony – EHarmony touts itself as the “#1 Most Trusted Site” in online dating. E-Harmony uses a complicated registration process they call “29 Dimensions”, which are supposed to be scientifically based. You’ll fill out a 45-minute registration form, which is a little too involved for some online daters. This sounds good to others in the internet dating community, because you’re more likely to have your personality matched with someone who is compatible.
eHarmony is so big these days, you’ll find they have their own branch dating services with links to them very close to the eHarmony homepage. These are “Christian dating”, “Senior dating”, “Black Dating”, “Jewish Dating”, “Hispanic Dating”, “eharmony Australia”, “eHarmony Canada” and “eHarmony United Kingdom”. It hardly does you any good if you live in Texas and meet your perfect match in Australia, so eHarmony sometime back gave internet daters the option to direct their search in their local region or country. It’s hard enough when you live on the east coast of the U.S. and find someone compatible on the west coast of the US.
Eharmony Labs is a resource for online daters, giving featured articles on dating advice, dating quizzes, sex advice, relationship science research and any number of other disciplines to explore relationships. eHarmony is so big these days, that it offers “Dating Advice” and the “Marriage Counseling Alternative” for people needing expert advice about dating and relationships.
Notice that eHarmony doesn’t have a specific category for gay & lesbian dating. I’ve always heard that’s because eHarmony was founded by a Christian group and that Match continues to be animated by Christian ethos, go homosexual dating should take place somewhere else besides Match. I’m not sure if that’s entirely true, but gays dating online probably won’t want to use eHarmony. On the other hand, if you’re Christian and you don’t mind a long registration process, Eharmony dot com might be perfect for you.
Match Dot Com – Match.com claims to find love for hundreds of thousands of people every year. Match has been online in 1995 and is now available in 24 different worldwide countries.
Match dotcom has options available for Christian dating, Jewish dating, Asian dating, black dating, senior dating and gay dating.
Every day, some 20,000 new people join Match dotcom. That would indicate how hundreds of thousands of people would be able to meet on Match every year. Match dot com thinks big, which is why new members can post up to 26 photos of themselves on their personal dating profile on Match.
Like most online dating services, people communicate through an anonymous email network on Match, so you don’t have to worry about the people you meet learning your personal information and either stalking you or stealing your identity. (Note: Never give out this information to people you meet in an online dating forum, until you have met them live and begun to date.) If someone starts to ask too soon about your personal information, distrust them.
Date Hookup Dot Com – “Date Hookup” hasn’t been one of the big players in the online dating industry nearly as long as eHarmony or Match, which is why it’s so impressive that Date Hook Up now ranks #3 on Google for “Online Dating Services”. That being said, Date Hookup is a big site, with 4,000 woman and over 5,000 men online as I write this blog post.
DateHookup offers photo profiles of featured single men and women on their home page, so you can browse profiles of those who catch your eye immediately. Better yet, if you stay on Date Hookup a lot, there’s a chance you’ll be featured on the homepage. The more people who see your online dating profile, the better the chance you’ll be noticed by someone who finds you adorable.
Date Hook Up offers a 100% free membership and (unlike most internet dating sites) does not require a monthly membership to allow you certain privileges. Online Date Hookup offers a quick interface and registration process, explaining one reason that Hookup is slowly catching up to eHarmony.
Date Hookup makes it easy to customize your profile, while each member gets their own online dating blog. Date Hookup offers IM and real-time chat and online dating forums, though you’ll get these on sites like Match and eHarmony.
One great idea on Date Hookup is that it allows you to save custom searches, so you can remember the profiles that are compatible with you, or study which searches are best for you. Date Hook Up dot com also offers date ideas. As mentioned earlier, everyone on Date Hookup.com allows every single member to send and receive messages. Date Hookup mentions this is different than “pay sites”.
Date Hookup has a straightforward, easy-to-navigate site. All in all, Date Hookup tries to be what the big online dating pay services are not: free and easy to find profiles. Given its free status, there’s no wonder that Date Hookup is a primary dating service online.
